Welcome To HeartPack

Heart Attack is the number one cause of death in the USA.  It is far more likely than any other condition to cause your death.  One such death occurs every minute!  But in 2010 the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved: “aspirin for a wide variety of uses…including HEART ATTACK.  Aspirin can reduce the risk of death if taken as directed by a doctor as soon as a heart attack is suspected. The FDA says that as little as one half (=162 mg) of a regular strength adult plain aspirin tablet (325 mg) reduces the risk of death by up to 23 percent (preventing almost 1 of every 4 deaths!)  if administered when a heart attack is suspected…(and)…can lessen the damaging effects of the heart attack.”  But for this to happen it has to be the correct aspirin, immediately available, taken correctly and in proper dosage when symptoms occur (www.wonderdrug.com).

In 2011 THE CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION (http://www.cdc.gov/features/heartmonth) announced that a new program supported by the American Heart Association, The National Heart, Lung, Blood Institute, the American Red Cross and the National Council on Aging have launched a new “Act in Time” campaign to increase awareness of heart attack and the importance of calling 9-1-1 immediately at the onset of heart attack symptoms. Everyone agrees on 9-1-1 but Harvard Medical School adds: “You also need to get some aspirin into your system quickly.”
